Some Thoughts About Science and Spirituality...
| "The scientific method does not claim that events can have only natural causes but that the only causes that we can understand scientifically are natural ones. As powerful as the scientific method may be, it must be mute about things beyond its scope. Supernatural forces are, by definition, above the laws of nature, and thus beyond the scope of science."
|
| "As a biologist, I choose to accept the best existing mechanistic formulations for explaining the diversity of life on earth. Evolutionary theory is a robust conceptualization with abundant supportive evidence and a remarkable ability to explain what we see in nature."
"...as a Christian, I am absolutely convinced that God is present in the world and in our lives. The main thing for me is that we can know the truth of a living God and a spiritual reality by a sense that is not the same as scientific investigation. This is why it is called faith! I sense the presence of God in nature, in his creation, everyday. I am in awe and I am thankful." |
