1. Keep your notes in a loose-leaf binder. This way you can add to your notes, insert pertinent handouts, etc.

2. Write the page number of the notes in the top corner of the page.

3. Date each lecture.

4. When taking notes write legibly and use abbreviations and symbols to save time.

5. Don't write everything that is said but focus on

6. Put a question mark in the margin next to any concept you didn't quite understand in class so that you remember to ask the teacher for help.

7. Use tools like highlighters, underlining and exclamation points to help emphasize key points, definitions, etc.

8. Leave plenty of space in your notes so that when you are reviewing them; they will not seem so intimidating AND you can add any notes or concepts that come up as you review.
